Welcome
Six is a Hex playing program for Linux/Un*x systems running KDE. It has a strong AI, an easy to use GUI and can import emails from Richard's PBEM server.

- 2008/12/09: The competition has advanced, Wolve and MoHex beat Six! Thanks to Ryan Hayward who - again - kindly registered Six for the Olympiad.
- 2006/06/17: To celebrate victory version 0.5.3 is released including the Italian translation by Luciano Montanaro.
- 2006/06/16: Six wins yet again! Thanks to Ryan Hayward who kindly registered Six for the Olympiad while yours truly was busy with other aspects of life.
- 2004/08/04: Six wins again! Look at Jan Willemson - the kind operator of Six and GnuGO - with the medal at the 2004 Computer Games Olympiad. The games played are here. In related news version 0.5.2 is released sporting minor fixes and improved opening play.
- 2004/03/29: Version 0.5.1 is released with bugfixes related to compilation on FreeBSD, 64 bit platforms, gcc 2.95 and resignation one move away from victory.
- 2004/02/29: Version 0.5.0 is here stronger than ever, beats v0.4.0 expert level 8 - 2. Support for resignation, KDE session mgmt, entering moves from the keyboard; a few command line options and many GUI related fixes. See the ChangeLog. Packages for Debian Sid and RedHat 9.0 are available.
- 2003/11/28: Version 0.4.0 is released. This version played at the olympiad. It features improved position evaluation and stronger gameplay in general. See the ChangeLog. Packages for Debian Sid and RedHat 9.0 are available.
- 2003/11/25: Six wins the hex tournament of the 2003 Computer Games Olympiad. The games played are here.
- 2003/06/18: Version 0.3.4 is released. More compilation fixes.
- 2003/06/15: Version 0.3.3 is released. Minor fixes and support for g++ 3.2 and up.
- 2002/09/25: Release 0.3.2 is here. It includes fixes for PBEM game support, improved move selection, slightly tuned position evaluation and many cosmetic fixes.
- 2002/09/09: Six 0.3.1 is released with compilation fixes for RedHat, import for PBEM games and a slew of bug fixes.
- 2002/08/30: Six 0.3.0 is released with support KDE3. KDE2 is still supported. See INSTALL in the distribution.
